Lloyd’s Market Charity Awards 2013

Thank you to our lovely volunteer George Attipoe who was instrumental in encouraging his employer, Montpelier at Lloyd’s, to make us their Charity of the Year and set up a CSR committee. Following that, George entered an application to the Lloyd’s Charities Trust and was successful, securing a brilliant £2000 donation for our projects! Maddy, Kith & Kids’ Community Fundraiser, went down to the awards on Tuesday to help George accept the Lloyd’s Market Charity Award 2013. Thank you George and thank you Lloyd’s Charities Trust!

The Great Mitsubishi Bake Off!

Our Monday Employment and Life Skills Project group was recently treated to a great afternoon at the offices of Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International plc (MUSI) in the City. We got a tour of the offices including the trading floor of the bank, and helped hand out the awards in the Bake Off competition! MUSI held a fantastic bake sale, getting in the spirit by employing their very own CEO, David King, and Head of HR, Sarah Cawthra, as Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry – and they even had four amazing showstopper cakes for a raffle! MUSI raised a staggering £2600 from the bake sale – an amazing achievement. A great day all round, thank you MUSI!

Our Christmas project provides a great opportunity to demonstrate and learn key interpersonal and communication skills that are highly valued by employers. You will get to see the positive impact of the hard work you put in and get a real sense of achievement. Its also great fun and very sociable!

The project is based in Seven Sisters, and runs from 27th-31st December!

On the project volunteers will get involved in a wide range of workshops, such as arts and crafts, video, music, dance and sports alongside our participants. We are looking for people that will approach these tasks with energy, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness!

We offer three training days to prepare you as a volunteer. We have two courses of training coming up and you can choose which one to attend. The first training block starts on Tuesday 5th November (7pm-10pm) and the other starts on Sunday 17th November (10am-4.30pm).
