Internship
What is a voluntary internship with Kith and Kids?
An internship is one of the many types of volunteering on offer at Kith and Kids. Interns are volunteers with clearly defined roles which are formally recruited and managed.
Our internships last for a minimum of 6 months, with the expectation that an intern can offer full time commitment 5 days a week (we can offer some flexibility within this).
The internship will be based at our office, as well as our project sites all in the north London area.
When does Kith and Kids recruit interns?
We recruit interns a number of times a year, for the latest information regarding dates of our recruitment please see the internship pages
of our website.
Who can apply for a Kith and Kids internship?
Anyone can apply for an internship. However they do need to meet the following requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be available for at least 6 months
- Must have achieved A-Levels or equivalent
- Must be IT literate
- Must be committed to values of Kith and Kids
As well as these requirements it's necessary for potential volunteers to meet the person specification for the role. See our internship application form for essential and desirable skills.
What experience do I need?
Previous work/voluntary experience is desirable but not essential.
What does the application process involve?
After downloading the application form and completing it please send it to projects@kithandkids.org.uk or post to the address found on the form.
Applications will then be shortlisted. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to an interview where we will assess their suitability for the role. Based on the interview we will make a decision as to whether we will offer the position to the candidate. There will then be an induction period before the intership itself begins.
What level of responsibility can I expect to have during my internship?
Our internship offers the chance to take on real responsibility within the organisation from the very beginning. We are looking for a valuable addition to the team, someone who can offer a real contribution to Kith and Kids.
What skills can I expect to gain from my internship at Kith and Kids?
We expect interns to develop their awareness skills around disability and volunteer support, as well as problem solving and general project management skills.
What sets this internship apart from other ones I have looked at?
Kith and Kids offers the opportunity to gain insight into all the areas of running a small charity. There is a unique opportunity to work not only in the planning but also the provision of our exciting projects for young people with disabilities.
Does Kith and Kids offer financial support for a voluntary internship?
Kith
and Kids can not provide any financial support for internships.
However we can reimburse local travel expenses to and from the location of volunteering and reimburse up to £5 per day for lunch
We are unable to cover accommodation costs.
Will you provide me with a reference when I leave?
We can provide you with an internship reference when you leave.
Will completing an internship guarantee me a job with Kith and Kids?
An internship will not lead to a job offer from Kith and Kids.
