Summer Camp goes swimmingly!
Our 2010 Summer Camp (sponsored by Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International) took place last week! Despite some questionable weather, everyone had a fab time doing lots of holiday/camping type activities including riding the zip wire, singing around the camp fire and visiting the seaside for the day. A huge thank you to our sponsors for funding this much needed break, to the volunteers who supported our participants round the clock and to the staff who made it all happen! Three cheers for Summer Camp - Hippip...
A good ol' Tug of War on camp!

Kith & Kids brave Chessington World of Adventures
As part of the GlaxoSmithKline Orange Day scheme, which encourages employees to take part in volunteering for a day, a big day out to Chessington World of Adventures was organised on 30th July 2010.
20 keen volunteers from GSK raised over £1500 to pay for the trip and came along on the day to link in with other volunteers and members.
Over 150 boarded coaches (donated by Merlins Magic Wand) and we had an absolutely wonderful day enjoying the thrills of the theme park and the cute factor of the zoo. It was a great end to the first week of Summer Project.
We thank everyone involved for their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication to the charity and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Students brave mega cycle challenge in Bhutan
A group of 18 GCSE and AS-Level students from Uppingham School in Leicestershire, who all have a passion for cycling and adventure are embarking on a challenge that has never been done before by a group of under 25-year-olds. They are cycling 1018 km across the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan (for those of you who don't know, Bhutan is a small principality in between India and China - near Nepal) in just 10 days.
The group have already raised £12500 (and aim to reach £16000) which will be split between Kith & Kids, Barnados, Med Equip 4 Kids and Dreams Come True (our Let's Trek for Children consortium).
We wish them all the best of luck, they should be enormously proud of themselves!!! Thanks to everyone involved.

Mitsubishi save Summer Camp
Thank you to Mitsubishi
UFJ Securities International plc who have very generously donated £21,000 to Kith & Kids to fund the 2010 Summer Camp. Sixteen people with learning disabilities or autism will go away to Sayers Croft Field Centre near Guildford in Surrey enjoying a week of fantastic activities. This is a rare opportunity for these young people to have a holiday independent from their parents and it also gives their families much needed respite. We are extremely grateful to everyone at MUSI for this generous donation and especially to wonderful volunteer Venessa who very kindly nominated us to her work place. GREAT NEWS!

New year, new opportunities
A big happy new year to everyone from Kith & Kids. If you have been keeping up to date with all of our news over the last year you will know that 2009 was another busy year for us. We celebrated our 40th aniversary in style and saw first hand what a positive impact Kith & Kids has made to the lives of thousands of families living with disabilitiy over the years.
Unfortunately there are still people in need, and we are doing all we can to help people. We couldn't do this without the support of volunteers and fundraisers. 2010 sees many opportunities for you to get involved in one way or another. In this time of financial hardship we need you more than ever so make it your new years resolution to get involved. We promise that you'll have an amazing time, whether it's volunteering with people with disabilities or taking part in a fundraising event, or both!
