Nikki Cheal is a contemporary figurative artist who uses digital technology to construct domestic environments and creates a strong sense of everyday life and love. After completing a degree in Communications and Design, Nikki began her career as a Designer.  Working for a number of newspapers and magazines, Nikki continued to make art in her spare time.  Her work within the design industry gave Nikki the perfect opportunity to develop her technical knowledge and talent for her art.  ‘My entry depicts Edgar Davids in a challenge with two unidentified players – they are shown as generic and not for any other tea, I want my artwork to follow along the lines of all my other pieces – of Love and Passion.  Firstly the passion that Davids has for football for Tottenham – the love he has of the game, for that game and for the fans. Also the love and passion the fans have for the Spurs, for the game and for Edgar Davids to win that challenge and that match, in fact, every match.  I also want to convey my love and passion for football – now such a fantastic game not only affects me and arouses passion in me –but for the millions of people across the world who have such intense feelings for the game of football. The artwork itself is digitally produced from a photograph – I have traced around key elements in the photo with an outline and filled in certain sections with different textures and patterns.  For example – for the crowd I have used baked beans and for the turf.  I have used a loofah – I scan the images or the texture and use it in my work.’ www.nikkicheal.co.uk
